Oh happy day !
Hello, dear reader. I come to you overjoyed, having partook in my city’s pride parade and festival yesterday. I wish now to relate to you some of the days events, for I found them invigorating and encouraging in a way I have not felt for some time now.
Before this however, I feel that I should briefly provide an update on my last blogpost and my conflict with sleep. I must confess that my sleep has not greatly improved in the few days since my last post, the factors behind my sleeplessness and the effect it is having on me has greatly changed. As of late, my sleep troubles have come from spending time with those I care about and, in the case of last night, the events of yesterday which I will soon tell of. It is still my hope that I manage to sleep properly for my internship (starting tomorrow !), but I am no longer as concerned about the issue.
Now then, let me turn to the events of yesterday ; and what an eventful day it was ! It began early in the morning, with an enormous parade which was a delight to watch. It went on and on, filled with so many incredible people, and an immense crowd watching. It was around this time when I met up with a friend of mine, who I do not often get the opportunity to see. Once the parade passed us by, my friend and I made our way down to the main area of celebration, a park which had been commandeered for the occasion.
Upon making our way in side, my friend and I spent some number of hours partaking of the atmosphere of the celebration, enjoying it and each other’s company, before eventually he had to leave. In the time after their departure, I roamed the park on my own, happily, before eventually I found myself among a group of wonderful trans women. We danced together, and hung out, before eventually we went out together in to barhop. We initially went to the downtown of a suburb where some of my new friends live, where there just so happened to be a downtown festival. Shortly after we arrived, however, while walking the streets of the festival, we heard some distant popping sounds, before suddenly the crowd before us stampeded towards us. I cannot be sure of what exactly occurred, and I have not been able to find any news article on the event, I am glad to say that though everyone was startled, none in my group was at all harmed.
After the excitement downtown, the group decided to go to a different bar, not in the downtown area. I did not drink, as I was driving, but it was still fun spending time with them all. Eventually, we all went to Waffle House together, something made all the more pleasant by this being my first time eating there. The night was called there, but I am very much excited to spend more time with them.
With that, dear readers, it is time for me to take my leave. Thank you, as always, for reading, and farewell until next we meet.
