Hello. I have the desire to write on this blog, but nothing that has occurred which I feel any need or desire to discuss. As such, I will instead take the opportunity to establish what I intend on making a recurring segment of this blog ; recommending and discussing music. Music is incredibly important to me, and I hope to share it with all who read this blog. My tastes in music is incredibly varied, to say the least, and I am sure that if what I recommend now is not to your liking, I will with likelihood recommend something you, whoever may be reading this, will enjoy.
Before I get to the music, I feel I should explain more about how I discover and listen to music. My primary means of discovering new music (which, I shudder to realize, I have been doing for multiple years at this point) is by getting direct album recommendations from people in my life who I want to remember and keep with me. I have at this point collected some 221 albums (though it is worth noting that 54 of these albums are ones I added of my own volition), and I intend on continuing. All of this music is on an MP3 player which I carry with me at most hours of the day. Any and all music I recommend will be from this collection I have been growing, unless otherwise stated. When I discuss an album, links to the album’s Bandcamp page (or, when necessary, to a YouTube playlist of the music) will be embedded into the album art.
With all that established, I now present to you the band I wish to share today. I will be sharing two albums from the Crane Wives is a Folk/Rock band which has incredible music, with deeply moving lyrics and songs I find myself relating quite heavily to. In particular, my favorite albums of theirs are Coyote Stories and Beyond Beyond Beyond.
Coyote Stories is an extremely personal album to me. It was the first Crane Wives album I was exposed to, and a number of the tracks in this album touch me in a way that I find difficult to describe. It is as if they reach into my very soul, and exposes parts of me that are very vulnerable and raw. Favorites include Keep You Safe, Unraveling, and Metaphor.
Beyond Beyond Beyond is another fantastic album. With it being more recent, the band has a more developed sound and overall ability when it comes to crafting songs. As with Coyote Stories, I find most of the songs on this album touching and impactful in a most incredible way. Standout tracks of the album are Arcturus Beaming and Black Hole Fantasy.
I hope this format is enjoyable, and that I have the opportunity to revisit it in the near future. If you have any comments about the music I discussed, or a suggestion for a genre you would like to see me recommend music from, please do not hesitate to say something in the chat section of the homepage. With that, dear reader, I bid you farewell until we next meet.
