Hi !, this blog now exists. I hope to update it regularly, but that'll depend on me having stuff to talk about and also remembering that this page exists, so here's hoping.

Brief introduction : feel free to call me Moon, or Moonbeams. I've a great passion for many a thing, including books (particularly fantasy (especially the Cosmere), but also sci-fi and a bunch of other genres), music of all kinds, and ever-so-slightly outdated gaming (more on that later). I'll probably ramble about all of those things (and much, much more besides) at some point or another here.

Some of you may be wondering what "23 Germinal 234" in the title of the post means, and what the heck a "Germinal" is, and the answer to that is very simple. it's today's date :3. More specifically, that's the date of today using the French Republican Calendar, a most wonderful thing that I hope to inflict on more people, including you, the reader, with this blog and this webpage more generally. This wonderful site, which is what I use to figure out the current date, has a simple explanation of the calendar, but in short it it is a calendar with 12 months of 30 days, and 5 (or 6 for leap years) additional days at the end of the year. I can and probably will give a more in-depth explanation of the calendar eventually, but I love it so much, so I'm going to primarily be using it for this blog (and giving the date in the Gregorian calendar too because I'm nice).

Anywho, now that that's out of the way, I can do some actual blogging. Yippee :3

Yesterday, I bought myself a PS Vita ! I started homebrewing it basically the moment I got home with it. Sadly, I did trade in my PSP and all two games I had for it, but seeing as the Vita can do literally everything the PSP can and more, it felt worthwhile. The Vita I got didn't have a memory card (curse you Sony and your proprietary nonsense), so even though I modded mine super quickly (it's incredibly easy, even easier than modding a 3DS imo) I can't really do anything until I go and get a memory card or a microSD adapter. I'm probably going to go out later today and see if I can find either of those things at a retro game store near me, if not I'll probably get it on eBay (which would be a shame ; I loathe shopping for things online, and avoid it at all costs).

For those of you who have no clue what a PS Vita or PSP even is, let me elucidate. The PlayStation Portable (PSP) and PlayStation Vita (you'll never guess) are both handheld gaming consoles made by Sony. The PSP was Sony's first foray into handheld gaming, competing with the Nintendo DS (you might have heard of it, everyone and their mom had a DS). The PS Vita was the successor to the PSP, basically a more powerful version, with a bunch of new added features. The PSP did pretty well for itself, but the Vita sold pretty poorly, which is a shame because it's actually a really cool system. So far I've been way more into the 3DS (the successor to Nintendo's DS, if that need be stated), so I'm excited to finally have a Vita to mess around with.

I hope this blogpost was in any way enjoyable, and that anyone reading this comes back in the future ! Thank you for reading and have a wonderful day :3
